Raktamoksha (hirudotherapy) - cleansing the lymphatic system
Raktamoksha — bloodletting, one of the five actions of Panchakarma, the body purification system. In Ayurveda, it is most often performed using leeches. The procedure is indicated for imbalance of Pitta dosha in the body and the accumulation of Ama (toxins) in the blood, which can lead to hypertension, angina, migraines, varicose veins, liver and skin diseases, hemorrhoids, gynecological and urological disorders, allergies, and more.
Leeches are also highly effective in treating sciatica, rheumatism, arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis, and gastritis (as part of therapy).
